Dr. Prewitt is a United States Air Force Desert Storm veteran with over twenty-four years of experience assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders. She has a doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Prewitt’s work setting experience includes private practice, early childhood intervention, public and private school systems, hospitals, home health, private home visits, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation clinics, corporate communication, corporate workplace safety and rehabilitation, litigation expert witness, and the entertainment industry.
Dr. Prewitt is an expert at treating a wide range of conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, feeding, swallowing, and neurological disorders. Her passion lies in helping patients regain their communication abilities and improve their quality of life through personalized therapy plans and evidence-based practices. One area of her research is focused on finding quantitative and qualitative ways to increase oral intake to minimize adverse health effects.
Dr. Prewitt has fostered long-standing working relationships with colleagues from the health, corporate, educational, military, and entertainment sectors.
Dr. Prewitt's commitment to ongoing professional development and community education is unwavering. She regularly participates and lectures in workshops and seminars in the United States and Internationally to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field. She firmly believes in the power of collaboration, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for all patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Prewitt enjoys reading, writing, cooking, traveling, and spending as much time as she can with her family and friends, which helps her maintain a balanced and fulfilling life.
